Width and Profile

Width is measured across the band, from narrow to wide. Narrow bands feel light and suit small hands, while wide bands make a stronger statement and feel more present.

Profile is the cross-section shape: flat, domed, comfort fit, or knife edge. Comfort fit bands are rounded inside, so they slide on easily and feel smooth over long days.

Matching an Engagement Ring

Match the band metal to the engagement ring metal first, then check the profile. Two bands with different profiles can leave a gap or rub where they meet.

If the engagement setting leaves a gap, a curved or contoured band can fill it. Bring the engagement ring when choosing, or measure the gap it leaves.

Metal and Finish

Gold and platinum suit most bands, while tungsten, meteorite, and tantalum suit buyers who want darker, modern metals. Alternative metals usually cannot be resized, so measure carefully.

Finish changes the look without changing the structure. Polished bands shine brightest, matte bands hide scratches better, and hammered bands add texture that disguises daily wear.

Sizing for Bands

Measure at a normal temperature and at the time of day the ring will usually be worn. Fingers are larger in warmth and in the evening than in cold mornings.

Wide bands feel tighter than narrow bands in the same size, so size up slightly for wide designs. Comfort fit bands also wear slightly looser than flat bands of the same size.

Buying for Two

Couples do not need matching bands. Many couples share a metal but choose different widths, finishes, or profiles to suit each hand.

Order both bands with the same production timing in mind, and confirm resizing and exchange policies for both, since two hands rarely measure identically.

How to Choose a Wedding Band FAQ

What width should I choose?

Choose by hand size and comfort. Narrow bands suit smaller hands, wide bands suit larger hands, and comfort fit helps any width wear easily.

What is comfort fit?

Comfort fit means the inside of the band is rounded rather than flat, so the ring slides on smoothly and feels less tight.

Can a wedding band be resized?

Gold and platinum bands usually can, within limits. Tungsten, meteorite, and tantalum bands usually cannot, so measure carefully.

Should the band match the engagement ring metal?

Matching metal looks most coherent and wears most evenly. Mixed metals are fine, but harder metals can wear against softer ones over time.

How do I stop two rings from rubbing?

Choose matching profiles, or add a spacer band between them. Check the pair together before ordering.
